Tom Brady is one of the greatest football players of all time. With six Super Bowl wins to his name, four Super Bowl MVPs and three league MVP awards, it’s no surprise that he’s often referred to as “the GOAT”—Greatest Of All Time. Here we take a look at what makes Brady so great and how he became one of the most successful quarterbacks in NFL history.

The Early Years

Tom Brady was born in San Mateo, California on August 3rd, 1977. He began playing football when he was eight years old, and his natural talent was evident right away. In high school he earned multiple All-American honors and showed such potential that colleges were clamoring for him to join their teams. He eventually chose Michigan, where he spent four years working with head coach Lloyd Carr and offensive coordinator Mike DeBord to hone his skills even further.

The NFL Career

In 2000, Tom Brady was drafted by the New England Patriots in the sixth round with the 199th overall pick—not exactly an auspicious start for the future Hall of Famer. But despite being a late-round pick, Brady wasted no time proving himself as a capable quarterback. In 2001, he took over for an injured Drew Bledsoe and quickly cemented himself as the team’s starter with a come-from-behind victory against the St Louis Rams in Super Bowl XXXVI (his first of six total championships). From there his career only got better; between 2002 and 2016 Brady led the Patriots to nine conference championships and 14 division titles while setting numerous NFL records along the way. He also earned four Super Bowl MVP awards (tied for most ever) and three league MVP awards (most ever), solidifying him as one of the best players of all time.

Why Is He So Great?

So why is Tom Brady so great? Well, there are several factors at play here. For starters, he has excellent pocket presence; this means that despite immense pressure from opposing defenders trying to sack him, Brady can remain composed and deliver accurate throws from within a confined space—a skill few quarterbacks possess in today’s game. Additionally, he’s incredibly accurate when throwing long passes downfield; this allows him to open up the offense by taking shots deep downfield without sacrificing accuracy or ball placement—something which few QBs can do consistently over their careers like Brady has done throughout his two decades in the NFL. Finally, perhaps more than any other factor is his mental toughness; while many quarterbacks would wilt under intense scrutiny or backbreaking losses (as seen during last year’s AFC Championship Game vs Kansas City), Tom remains stoic in tough situations and continues to perform at an elite level regardless of what adversity is thrown his way—a trait which has been instrumental in propelling him to greatness over his career thus far.

It’s hard not to admire someone who has achieved so much success despite being passed over by numerous teams until late in draft day. From a sixth round pick out of Michigan to becoming arguably one of the greatest football players ever – it’s been an incredible journey for Tom Brady! With 14 Division Titles, 9 Conference Championships and 6 Super Bowl wins under his belt already – it’s safe to say that TB12 will be remembered forever as one of NFL’s true legends!
